The first Wired Certified Platinum property in Quebec was developed by Ivanhoé Cambridge and Manulife.
In 2014, Manulife announced it was investing in the new landmark office tower in downtown Montreal, as well as signing a major lease agreement as the building’s first major tenant with more than 260,000 sq ft of office space. Maison Manuvie is now online and home to Manulife's new headquarters, providing employees with a world-class office environment with best-in-class building technologies and amenities.
The new development has garnered recognition as a premiere example of innovative construction. Maison Manuvie won an Americas Property Award in the Office Development, Canada category from the International Property Awards. This award recognizes the finest of property, architecture and interior design in the world and celebrates the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in the property and real estate industry. The AAA building is also the first building in Quebec to achieve Platinum Wired Certification.
In pursuing Wired Certification, Maison Manuvie underwent a comprehensive certification process conducted by a team of leading engineers. Upon completion of a review that evaluates a building’s number of available internet service providers, infrastructure redundancy, connection access points, and readiness to improve connectivity, a Wired Certification level is assigned based on the official standards developed by WiredScore and its advisory board.
Maison Manuvie has planned for the advanced technological infrastructure that is essential for reliable, redundant internet connections, thus earning it a Wired Certified Platinum designation. This certification was given based on the building’s ability to provide tenants with features of connectivity that matter most: access to high-speed internet service providers, back-up measures in place to mitigate service interruptions, and future-proofing to ensure that the property is able to keep up with the pace of digital innovation.
Manulife celebrated the opening of Maison Manuvie in late 2017. "As the head of Manulife Quebec, I am particularly proud today," said Richard Payette, President & CEO, Manulife Quebec. "We're investing in the areas of finance, technology, innovation and research, and will continue to expand our partnerships within the community."
Manulife entered into a co-venture agreement with Ivanhoé Cambridge to jointly develop Maison Manuvie. Manulife now occupies more than half of the office space in the 27-story building. The AAA building is built to LEED CS Gold and Platinum Wired Certification standards.
"Ivanhoé Cambridge has been an outstanding partner in the development of Maison Manuvie," said Kevin Adolphe, President & CEO, Manulife Real Estate. "In just three years, we have gone from concept to completion, and are proud to have this building as Manulife's new Quebec headquarters and a strategic holding within our commercial real estate portfolio."
